The Kansas City Chiefs were fighting to make the playoffs before losing franchise quarterback Patrick Mahomes to a season-ending injury.
Mahomes was looking to lead the Chiefs to their fourth straight Super Bowl appearance and 11th straight playoff appearance, but Kansas City was halted.

The Chiefs were eliminated from the playoffs after a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
With Mahomes out of the lineup, sidelined for the rest of the regular season, the Chiefs will have to rely on several weapons on the offensive end to bring a spark.
Wide receiver Rashee Rice should surely be a name in the mix to help lead Kansas City’s offensive unit.
Unfortunate for the Kansas City Chiefs, Rice missed practice on Wednesday after entering concussion protocol.

Rice was dealt a brutal blindside hit in the matchup against the Chargers, seemingly leading up to his absence from Chiefs practice.
Along with Rice, linebacker Leo Chenal, cornerback Trent McDuffie and offensive tackle Jaylon Moore did not practice on Wednesday.
The Chiefs will now monitor the health of their No. 1 wide receiver ahead of a matchup against another struggling team in Week 16.
Kansas City will close out the season with matchups against the Tennessee Titans (2-12), Las Vegas Raiders (2-12) and Denver Broncos (12-2).

In his third season with the Chiefs, Rice has posted five touchdowns and 571 yards on 53 receptions. Rice missed the first six games of the season due to an NFL suspension.
The return of Rice would be major for Gardner Minshew and his success in the offense as he takes over for Mahomes in Week 16.
