The Buccaneers will travel to Los Angeles this season to face the Rams, and more importantly, it will be Baker Mayfield’s return to primetime, where his career was revived during his short week with the Rams.
Mayfield would go from being the Browns‘ answer at quarterback to being on the outs after they traded for and extended Deshaun Watson in 2022. He would be traded to the Panthers before being cut by them and signing with the Rams.
Baker Mayfield would lead the Rams to victory just three days after signing with the team on a miraculous last-minute throw. This, in turn, led to him being signed in Tampa on a prove-it deal after Tom Brady’s retirement and the rest is history.
The NFL shared that magical drive that reignited his career and led him to Tampa Bay after the team hired Liam Coen. Funny how the game, and business, of football works.
