Best NFC 2025 NFL Draft picks

USA TODAY’s Tyler Dragon breaks down which teams in the NFC drafted the best this year.

Sports Seriously

The Seattle Seahawks were tiebreakers away from taking the NFC West division title in year one of Mike Macdonald’s tenure as head coach. They could’ve taken a gradual approach to improvement heading into 2025 but chose otherwise.

Seattle overhauled its offense at multiple key positions this offseason. Quarterback Geno Smith is out with top free agent passer Sam Darnold in at the position. Wide receiver D.K. Metcalf is out via trade as Cooper Kupp and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are in via free agency. Klint Kubiak is in as offensive coordinator following a one-year stint in that role in New Orleans.

The Seahawks used their top draft pick on North Dakota State’s Grey Zabel reinforce the interior offensive line and much of the rest of their draft capital on offense overall.

Can the Seahawks improve enough in year one of a new offense to make the playoffs in a competitive division? Here’s what to know about their schedule for 2025.

This section will be updated when the NFL schedule is released on Wednesday, May 14.

Bringing Kubiak in should lean into Darnold’s strengths as well as improve the offensive line. But there are still so many new faces in new spots to feel confident about how much better the offense will be in the first half of the season.

The NFC West will likely be tougher in 2025 than a year ago. San Francisco should have better health, Arizona has invested heavily on an already improving defense and Los Angeles has a young, improving defense.

Seattle’s out-of-division games come against the AFC South and NFC South but also against the Vikings, Steelers and Commanders. All three of those teams made the playoffs in 2024.

We think that they’ll take a slight step back in division play but the AFC South and NFC South help balance that out. Overall, a slow start to the season on offense as Seattle implements Kubiak’s system holds them back just enough to prevent an improvement in the win column.
