Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive David Pollack recently went on Yahoo Sports Daily to discuss how the College Football Playoff will play out. He predicted who will win each round, including who will be crowned the national champions.

He believes the Georgia Bulldogs could win the national championship, but he doesn’t favor them.

“If you ask me to pick, I think there’s four teams that could win it,” Pollack said. “There’s only four teams in the bracket that I would say, yes, they can win it. And Georgia, Ohio State, Indiana and Oregon. Those are the four teams, which if you’re counting, that’s three Big Ten teams.”

Pollack predicts one of the Big Ten teams to win it: the Ohio State Buckeyes.

“If you asked me to pick, I would take Ohio State,” Pollack said. “I think Ohio State in their combination of weapons at receiver, man, like they’ve got two first-round picks at wide receiver. They’ve got Julian Sayin.” The Buckeyes would be the second team in the 2020s to win back-to-back championships, joining the Bulldogs.

Pollack is worried about Georgia’s ability to get into a shootout with Ohio State, despite Georgia winning shootouts against Tennessee and Ole Miss.

“They got in a shootout a couple of years ago with Ohio State, but against a (now) really good Ohio State defense, I think it would be harder to do.” Georgia defeated Ohio State in the 2023 Peach Bowl 42-41 thanks to the Buckeyes missing a potential game-winning field goal, and that win sent Georgia to its second straight national championship, which it won 65-7 against TCU.
