The Bills are adding some veteran defensive depth to their roster.
Buffalo hosted Matthew Judon on Friday and intend to sign him to its practice squad, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported.
Judon was released by the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday after appearing in 13 games. He amassed nine tackles and three quarterback hits.
The veteran edge rusher spent three seasons with the New England Patriots, though his time with the six-time Super Bowl champions didn’t end well.
Judon suffered a season-ending bicep injury in 2023 after playing in just four games before he had a public contract dispute with the Patriots in 2024 throughout training camp.
Wanting a new contract going into the 2024 season, New England traded the linebacker in August to the Atlanta Falcons for a future third-round pick. The Patriots ended up trading down twice and turned the No. 77 pick from Atlanta into several picks. They selected left guard Jared Wilson, edge rusher Bradyn Swinson and also acquired a 2026 fourth-round pick from the Chicago Bears.
If the Bills activate Judon to their active roster, it’s possible he plays his former Patriots team in the regular-season finale on Jan. 4.
