The Detroit Lions are preparing to start their eighth different offensive line combination of the season in this weekend’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Center Graham Glasgow missed his second straight practice with a knee injury Friday, Dec. 19, and Lions coach Dan Campbell said the team is toying with several replacement options if Glasgow can’t play.

Veteran Trystan Colon started one game at center earlier this year, but played left guard the past two weeks. Regular left guard Christian Mahogany is closing in on a return from injured reserve, though Campbell said he needs to see how Mahogany responds to back-to-back practice before he’s ready for game action.

And practice squad lineman Kingsley Eguakun has taken some first-team reps in practice and could appear this weekend in his third career game. Eguakun played three offensive snaps in a Week 2 win over the Chicago Bears and appeared in one other game on special teams.

“We’ve kind of just [tried a bunch of combinations in practice] and we’re rolling the guards, too,” Campbell said. “So it’s really been a little bit of a revolving door trying to get a number of guys ready because there’s a lot of flex going into this game right now.”

At 8-6, the Lions need to beat the Steelers and also likely win their final two games, against the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day and at the Chicago Bears in Week 18, to make the playoffs.

The Steelers also are 8-6 and vying for a playoff spot in the AFC North.

If Mahogany is able to return, that would give a boost to a line that fared well in pass protection last week against the Los Angeles Rams but has been inconsistent this season.

A sixth-round pick in 2024, Mahogany started the first eight games of the season at left guard before breaking his fibula in a Week 9 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

“I thought he looked pretty good [in practice Thursday],” Campbell said. “Wasn’t perfect but I thought he looked pretty good. And some of it’s gong to be, I know he’s a little sore today and how he feels in today’s practice, that’s what a lot of it’s going to come down to.”
