The Green Bay Packers are clearly not going to wait around and just hope their offensive line is going to get better. Earlier this offseason, the team signed a high-priced free agent guard in Aaron Banks, despite returning all three players — Elgton Jenkins, 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan and Sean Rhyan — who played guard for the team last season.

Jenkins will move to guard, which leaves Morgan, Rhyan and 2025 second-round pick Anthony Belton competing for just one open starting role on the team at right guard. Now there’s a new contender in the mix to shake up the lower end of the offensive line depth chart: Cincinnati seventh-round pick John Williams.

According to The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, Williams was the 25th tackle prospect in the 2025 class. With that being said, the Packers had him on a pre-draft visit, which shows their interest in the player. For reference, Williams is the fifth visitor to be selected by Green Bay in their eight-player class.

The aerospace engineering major was a two-year starter at left tackle for the Bearcats and was originally recruited by now Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell. It’s expected that Williams will compete with the likes of Kadeem Telfort, Travis Glover, Donovan Jennings and Jacob Monk for the last two or three roster spots at the offensive line position. To say the least, competition is going to be tough in 2025 training camp.
