The Denver Broncos (12-2) host the Jacksonville Jaguars (10-4) in one of the biggest games in Week 16. The game will go a long way in determining how the final standings in the AFC playoff race end up.Â
The Broncos have won 11 games in a row and have not lost a game at home since last October. The Jaguars have won each of their last five games and will have no fear coming into Empower Field while looking to make a statement.Â
These two don’t have a rich history against one another, but it’s been pretty even between them since the Jaguars joined the league in the 1995 season. This will be the 16th all-time meeting between the Broncos and Jaguars. Denver holds a slight 8-7 lead in the series.Â
Historically, Denver has not been a tough place for the Jaguars to play. The Jags have a 4-4 record in games played in Denver, with the most memorable victory in Denver coming in the divisional round of the playoffs following the 1996 season, when Mark Brunell and company beat the heavily favored Broncos 30-27 in one of the biggest upsets in NFL history.Â
But aside from that win, the Jaguars have won three other times in Denver, including the most recent meeting, which was in September 2019. The Broncos have won the last two meetings against the Jaguars, which were both played in Jacksonville, but haven’t beaten them in Denver since a 35-19 win in October 2013. The Broncos’ quarterback for that game was Peyton Manning.Â
Trevor Lawrence will be making his first appearance in the NFL in Denver, but he is coming off perhaps the best game of his career as he threw five touchdown passes and ran for another last week against the New York Jets.Â
