In the first ever College Football Playoff appearance for both No. 7 seed Texas A&M and No. 10 Miami Saturday afternoon, the Hurricanes downed the Aggies 10-3 in College Station to advance to the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic (CFP Quarterfinals) against No. 2 seed Ohio State.

The vaunting Miami defense, led by star defensive lineman Rueben Bain, held A&M without a touchdown in the victory. It marked the first time a team failed to score a touchdown in a College Football Playoff game since Cincinnati (against Alabama) did so in the 2021 Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic (CFP Semifinal).

Postgame, Bain went scorched earth on Texas A&M, All-SEC offensive lineman Trey Zuhn III, and Aggie head coach Mike Elko. Be warned, the language is very NSFW.

“Y’all whole O-Line some b******,” Bain said. “F**k you Mike Elko. F**k 60 (Trey Zuhn III). F**k everybody. F**k Texas A&M.”

Prior to the game, Zuhn III disregarded the impact that Bain would have in the game. It was certainly an interesting statement, as the First Team All-ACC selection is projected to be one of the first players off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft.

“I haven’t had the time to watch any film yet because it just got announced, but I don’t think he’ll be a threat we need to worry about so much.”

Zuhn was certainly not correct, as Bain recorded five tackles, four TFL, three sacks in the victory. He also blocked a field goal. He has looked like one of the best defensive players in all of college football this season, and he backed that up on Saturday.

“Before I said kindly, I don’t take kindly to disrespect,” Bain said in his postgame presser. “I got my reminder on my phone, so all two weeks I was on that. I was ready to play football. Some guys in the media were saying some things they shouldn’t have said, but they did, so God bless them.”

The reminder on Bain’s phone was a screenshot of Zuhn’s presser, where he said that he wouldn’t have been a threat.

With the win, Miami punches its ticket to the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic for a College Football Playoff Quarterfinals matchup against Ohio State. Texas A&M now looks to regroup and bounce back next season, needing to hire both a new offensive and defensive coordinator.
