Heart of a Giant Award winner meets NY Giants’ Dexter Lawrence
Old Tappan football player accepts Heart of a Giant Award and Super Bowl LX tickets, meets Giants lineman Dexter Lawrence.
EAST RUTHERFORD – The last time the New York Giants faced the Minnesota Vikings this late in the season was four seasons ago, yet that meeting in the playoffs feels like it was decades ago.
Much has changed since Brian Daboll led Big Blue into Minneapolis and registered the only playoff victory for the Giants since Super Bowl XLVI in February 2012. Daboll was fired as head coach last month with the Giants mired in their third losing campaign since that triumph in which Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley were the stars.
As Jaxson Dart and the Giants face off with J.J. McCarthy and the Vikings on Sunday, Jones is in the early stages of recovering from a torn Achilles in Indianapolis while Barkley – with a Super Bowl ring on his finger – is celebrating the first back-to-back NFC East championship since 2004 with the Eagles.
The Giants (2-12) will look to avoid their ninth straight defeat with interim coach Mike Kafka still seeking his first victory.

Here’s why: After hearing a bunch of criticism for most of this season due to injury and ineffectiveness, QB J.J. McCarthy has been outstanding the past two weeks for Minnesota. He has five touchdown passes and just one interception in a pair of wins over the Commanders and the Cowboys, also adding a TD run against Dallas.
The Giants still hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft with three games to play thanks to an eight-game losing streak, according to Tankathon.com projections. QB Jaxson Dart is one of the few bright spots and he threw two more touchdowns in Sunday’s loss, but even the rookie is getting worn down by the losing.
