Familiar ending for Arizona Cardinals in loss to Houston Texans

The Cardinals are setting records for points allowed as they limp to the end of the 2025 season.

Marvin Harrison Jr. is active for the Arizona Cardinals in their Week 16 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

The wide receiver’s return to action comes after missing two games with a heel injury. He has missed four of the Cardinals’ past five games, due to the heel injury and an earlier bout with appendicitis.

Harrison’s role, though, is not certain against the Falcons.

“We’re gonna see,” Harrison said on Friday, Dec. 19. “Whatever my role is come Sunday, I’m gonna do my best to star in my role, help the team win.”

Head coach Jonathan Gannon added that the Cardinals would “have a plan for (Harrison),” noting the conditioning element that comes into play with his limited action in recent weeks. During the open portion of Cardinals practice this week, Harrison ran behind Michael Wilson during wide receiver drills, an inversion of their typical order.

In the four games that Harrison missed, Wilson has been a star, catching 41 passes for 499 yards. But when Harrison played in Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Wilson caught just three of seven targets for 36 yards.

Since Jacoby Brissett became the starter, Wilson has averaged 43.0 yards per game with Harrison active.

For the Cardinals, Harrison’s status was not the only pregame injury boost. Right tackle Kelvin Beachum, safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, linebacker Cody Simon and wide receiver Xavier Weaver are also active after being listed as questionable.
