Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf will be hearing from the folks down at 345 Park Avenue.
Metcalf was caught swiping at a fan in the middle of Sunday’s contest against the Detroit Lions. CBS’ Tracy Wolfson, who was on the sideline and witnessed the interaction, reported on the broadcast that the fan actually had the veteran wide receiver’s jersey and called him over, before saying something that obviously crossed the line. Metcalf responded by swinging at the fan, who was wearing a blue wig, before sauntering back toward his bench.
The Steelers’ sideline appeared to miss the entire thing, as nothing really came from it prior to halftime.
Metcalf dropped two consecutive targets and was called for offensive pass interference on the ensuing possession. CBS’ Tony Romo, Jim Nantz and Gene Steratore pontificated whether or not the incident was weighing on the 28-year-old, who will almost certainly face punishment from the NFL.
Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein posted video of the incident on X.
