Atlanta overcame a 10-0 deficit to defeat Arizona on the road in Week 16.
The Atlanta Falcons have won two straight games following their 26-19 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16. While Sunday’s win in no way salvages a season that went off the rails weeks ago, the Falcons are feeling good about the way they’ve played over the last two games.
“Fun win,” said Falcons head coach Raheem Morris to open his post-game press conference. “Obviously, always good to go out and get a win. The guys went out there and fought today. It wasn’t always perfect, you know. I’d like to end that thing a little bit better but we can always complain about those things.”
The Falcons got off to a slow start but came on strong in the second quarter to tie the game before halftime. In the second half, Atlanta built up a 10-point lead before the Cardinals nearly mounted a comeback. Arizona made it a one-score game and had a chance to tie it when cornerback C.J. Henderson picked off Jacoby Brissett.
Henderson was signed off of the practice squad on Saturday and came up with the game-clinching interception on Sunday. Morris praised the young defensive back’s gutsy performance.
“Absolutely proud of him,” Morris said of Henderson, who filled in for an injured A.J. Terrell on Sunday. “Just can’t be more happy for the kid.”
