The Atlanta Falcons have signed safety Tysheem Johnson to their practice squad, the team announced on Monday evening. Johnson went undrafted in 2025 but signed with the Chicago Bears in the offseason. The former Oregon Ducks standout was later waived via injury settlement.

Johnson was praised for his versatility coming out of college. NFL Draft Diamonds praised the safety’s effectiveness in zone coverage in his 2025 NFL scouting profile:

Tysheem Johnson is a versatile, instinctive safety who excels in coverage and offers value in run support. His ability to impact the game at all three levels, combined with his above-average play speed, makes him a solid asset for any defense. Johnson is particularly effective in zone coverage, where his awareness and ball skills allow him to disrupt passing lanes and capitalize on turnovers. — NFL Draft Diamonds scouting report

The Falcons had one practice squad opening available after signing cornerback C.J. Henderson to the 53-man roster prior to Sunday’s win over the Arizona Cardinals. Henderson came away with the game-clinching interception in the fourth quarter to secure Sunday’s 26-19 victory.
