The availability of Los Angeles Rams star receiver Davante Adams will be the biggest question heading into Week 17.
Adams, who missed the Rams’ Week 16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks after he sustained a hamstring injury in Week 15, was considered week-to-week before being ruled out. There have also been reports that Adams “most likely” won’t play against the Atlanta Falcons this week.
Rams head coach Sean McVay didn’t offer any concrete details about Adams, but did say the receiver “is making really good progress” with his injured hamstring.
“We’ll see what that looks like as the week progresses,” McVay added on Monday.
The Rams’ offense looked fine without Adams in the lineup despite the loss to the Seahawks. Matthew Stafford finished with 457 passing yards and three touchdowns — with 225 of those yards and two of those touchdowns going to receiver Puka Nacua. McVay also said he was “really proud” of the receivers who filled for Adams, including seventh-round rookie Konata Mumpfield.
Regardless of what they do with Adams, the Rams clinched a playoff spot in Week 15, but their seed in the NFC is completely unclear after losing to the Seahawks. A win over the Falcons will give them the inside track to the No. 5 seed, and they could still win the division if the Seahawks lose more games.
It may end up making more sense for the Rams to sit the veteran wideout and let him rest before a Wild Card or Divisional Round game in early January.
