The first and only transfer portal window of the college football offseason is officially less than two weeks away. New Kentucky head coach Will Stein and his coaching and player personnel staff will be looking for more than a handful of starters. The free agency movement will have everyone’s attention but that is not the only roster-building we will see for the Wildcats over the next couple of months.

There is still a late signing period in February where programs can add high school prospects to their roster. After signing just 12 high school players during the early signing period, the Cats will look to play add-on to the 2026 class. A big name emerged on Monday.

Can the Cats close on this blue-chip line of scrimmage prospect?

Monroe (La.) Ouachita Parish defensive tackle Dylan Berymon decommited from Texas in November and did not sign with a school during the early signing period. LSU and Nebraska were some schools to make a push but neither closed the deal. This recruitment remains open. UK officially entered the chat when defensive line coach Anwar Stewart issued a scholarship offer.

We are still waiting official word that Stewart will return for his seventh consecutive season as UK’s defensive line coach, but all signs point to the 49-year-old being retained by Stein. While everyone on staff is expected to hit the portal hard, UK could find some extra additions in high school recruiting in February before all focus shifts to the 2027 cycle.

The Cats are now in the mix for another top-250 prospect in Louisiana after signing four-star receiver Kenny Darby in December.
