The Detroit Lions (8-7) have a short week before they meet the Minnesota Vikings (7-8) on Christmas Day with all of their playoff hopes on the line.
The Lions dropped the two teams’ earlier meeting this season, 27-24, on Nov. 3 in a game where the Vikings outrushed Detroit, 142-65. Detroit had 10 penalties for 76 yards, had a field goal blocked and coughed up a fumble that the Vikings turned into a touchdown drive.

With its season hanging in the balance, Lions head coach Dan Campbell met with the media on Monday to start the Lions’ short work week.
“So, Minnesota, short week. These guys have won three in a row. Finding ways to win. Playing really good defense and controlling the ball over there offensively. A little more ground and pound and play-action. So, got our hands full, but that’s what we’re charged with. Next one up,” Campbell said.
Campbell was asked what the point of emphasis is when looking at their first meeting and what the Lions need to do better to beat the Vikings this time around.
“We had some penalties that killed us. We had a lot of MA’s and we turned the ball over. Had a blocked field goal. So, there was a number of things we did in that game that were self induced. We’ve got to be really disciplined, play disciplined football on the road. It’s going to be loud there. The things we can control, we have to control. Let’s take care of that and then we can play Minnesota,” Campbell said.
