EAGAN, Minn. (Northern News Now) – After injuring his hand in Sunday’s game, Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy will not play on Thursday.
In a press conference on Tuesday, head coach Kevin O’Connell said McCarthy has a very small hairline fracture in his throwing hand.
O’Connell said he believes the injury won’t require surgery.
McCarthy injured his throwing hand on Sunday against the New York Giants and missed the second half.
O’Connell said McCarthy will not be placed on the injured reserve list and could appear in the team’s season finale against the Packers.
The Vikings play the Detroit Lions on Christmas Day at U.S. Bank Stadium.
