HAMMOND, Ind. (WSBT) — We’re learning that the Chicago Bears reportedly sent trucks to drill and test a potential new stadium site in Hammond.

The news came just one week after the CEO sent a letter to fans saying they were considering relocating to northwest Indiana.

Our sister station reports that the site is in Hammond, near the BP Whiting Refinery.

The report claimed that trucks and drilling equipment were sent to Wolf Lake, which is very near the Indiana-Illinois border.

However, Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott took to his Facebook page Monday, downplaying the report of the Bears testing a potential new stadium site in his city.
