The Cleveland Browns have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers center Kendrick Green off the Buffalo Bills practice squad to their active roster, the team announced. Green could have a chance to play for the Browns after joining their active roster, as they have some injuries they are dealing with on the offensive line.
The Steelers’ 2021 third-round pick out of Illinois, Green, was drafted to be a center, but Houston has moved him back to guard in hopes of getting more out of him than the Steelers were able to in his first two seasons. Pittsburgh traded Green in August of 2023, pulling the plug on what they believed was a failed draft pick after a disappointing first two seasons.
With the Texans, he was a depth piece that only stepped in when necessary. A torn meniscus cost him much of his first season with the club.
He played as a center for the Steelers but is likely to be a guard for the rest of his career, where he is more comfortable. Green expressed that while in Pittsburgh, he was uncomfortable at center, contributing to his early struggles in the NFL.
