What has become clear for the Jets is they are not a quarterback away.
In three straight demolitions, their defense has been run through (by the Dolphins) or exploited through the air (Jaguars and Saints), surrendering an average of 37 points per game. Their offense has not resembled an NFL offense, particularly with Brady Cook at quarterback. They will deserve the high pick they land.
Sure, they need Fernando Mendoza or Dante Moore or whichever potential franchise QB in the draft, but they also need to import talent — everywhere — to approach a level of competence.
Which means they need to hit on more draft picks like they did with Malachi Moore.
