The San Francisco 49ers are set to take on the NFC North-leading Chicago Bears on Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium for a pivotal Week 17 matchup.
Ahead of the game, the 49ers held their final practice of the week on Friday. After the session, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan shared injury updates for four of his players heading into the weekend.
According to Shanahan, quarterback Kurtis Rourke (NFI) and cornerback Renardo Green (neck) won’t play against the Bears on Sunday night, while tight end George Kittle (ankle) and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) are questionable.
Without Green, San Francisco may have to either sign Eli Apple to their 53-man roster or roll with just Deommodore Lenoir, Upton Stout, Chase Lucas, Darrell Luter and Siran Neal at the position.
If Kittle can’t go on Sunday, the 49ers may call up Brayden Willis to the practice squad to join Luke Farrell and Jake Tonges in the tight end room.
The 49ers are used to missing Pearsall, as he’s missed seven games this year. Jauan Jennings, Demarcus Robinson, Kendrick Bourne, Skyy Moore and Jordan Watkins will serve as the team’s five wideouts on Sunday if Pearsall can’t play.
