The worst part of late-season in NFL football, or really, football in general, is injuries. On Thursday, the Washington Commanders hosted the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Day. Both teams were eliminated from the playoffs and were essentially playing for pride.

In last week’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Commanders saw several players go down with injuries. Right guard Sam Cosmi, wide receiver Jaylin Lane and defensive tackle Eddie Goldman were the latest Washington players placed on injured reserve.

Unfortunately, the Commanders lost another starter in Thursday’s 30-23 loss to the Cowboys. Center Tyler Biadasz suffered a leg injury in the second half and did not return. Biadasz was helped off the field. It did not look good for Biadasz, the reliable starting center who has played in every game this season.

Head coach Dan Quinn offered an update on Biadasz after the game.

“Tyler had both a knee and an ankle, so, hopefully, sprains on both, and we’ll get a better sense, get an MRI and image into that tomorrow. But that’s where we’re at on him.”

Notice the key word here: hopefully. Quinn also confirmed it wasn’t only a knee or ankle, but both. Obviously, Quinn is correct. The best-case scenario would be knee and ankle sprains. While it would keep Biadasz out of the meaningless Week 18 regular-season finale, he would not be spending his offseason rehabbing from two potentially serious injuries.

Biadasz will undergo an MRI on Friday. We should know more once Quinn speaks to the media. Here’s hoping for positive news for Biadasz.
