The Cleveland Browns host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in the final home game of the season.

The Browns have won the past three meetings, and five of the past six overall, in Cleveland against the Steelers. But this matchup pits two teams heading in opposite directions as the Browns are fighting for the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, while the Steelers are eyeing the playoffs.

That could have a bearing on the game as the Steelers may have the AFC North Division title wrapped up before they take the field if the Baltimore Ravens lose on Saturday night. In that scenario, Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin said earlier this week he would consider resting some of his starters, so this could be a game the Browns will have to work harder to lose.

Otherwise, there is not much else to look forward to other than seeing if Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett can notch one more sack to set an NFL record. And if quarterback Shedeur Sanders, he of the minus-0.24 EPA/dropback, can continue to “make it difficult” for the Browns to pass on a quarterback in the draft.

It’s the Browns vs. the Steelers in Week 17, and here is everything to know about the game.

News and Notes

Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett is one sack from setting an NFL record for sacks in a season with 23.

Garrett has five sacks in the past two home games against the Steelers.

The Browns are 0-4 against teams with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.

Cleveland quarterback Shedeur Sanders is looking to join Brandon Weeden and Dorian Thompson-Robinson as the only Cleveland rookies to beat the Steelers in Mike Tomlin’s 19 years as head coach.

Sanders has a minus-0.24 EPA/dropback this season, according to The Athletic, the lowest of any quarterback since TruMedia began tracking the data in 2000.

Sanders is behind such notable quarterbacks as Ryan Leaf (minus-0.19), Zach Wilson (minus-0.19), and JaMarcus Russell (minus-0.22).

Tomlin has led the Steelers to wins against Cleveland head coaches Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Pat Shurmur, Rob Chudzinski, Mike Pettine, Hue Jackson, Freddie Kitchens, and Kevin Stefanski.

Sunday will be Kevin Stefanski’s 100th game as head coach of the Browns, joining Blanton Collier and Paul Brown as the only head coaches in franchise history to coach at least 100 games.

Teams are throwing to their running backs 20 percent of the time against the Browns, the fifth-highest percentage in the league, according to ESPN.

Pittsburgh is allowing 249.3 passing yards per game, the third most in the league.

The Browns are averaging 169.5 passing yards per game, which ranks at No. 30 in the league.

The Browns have allowed a league-high 104 points off turnovers, while the Steelers have scored 98 points off turnovers, second most in the league.

The Steelers are third in EPA per rushing play over the past two weeks, while Cleveland’s defense is second in rushing success rate and seventh in EPA per rushing play over the entire season, according to PFF.

In Case You Missed ItA Final Quote

Left guard Joel Bitonio on the possibility of this being his final home game after 12 seasons with the Browns:

“I’m not sure. Kind of like last year, this year I’m just taking it one game at a time, seeing where we’re at. It is last year on my contract here in Cleveland. But I’m not really thinking about the future there. I want to finish out this season and take some time, talk to the family before I make any decisions.”
