Now that we know for a fact that the hometown Buffalo Bills are heading to the playoffs for the seventh straight season, we are starting to get a better idea of how the 2026/27 season is going to look for the team.
While just about everyone will say don’t put the cart before the horse, and we still have plenty of season to play this year and quite a few things to still achieve, the anticipation to see who Buffalo will face next year and where the team will travel to is exciting.
So, with the Bills still battling for the AFC East title and even a chance for the number 1 seed and a first-round bye, let’s look at next for who the team will beat around the field next year.
We have a fairly clear idea of who the Bills will play next year, with several opponents set to be released by the NFL for the upcoming season. The NFL uses a schedule formula to determine who a team will play every year:
Each team plays 17 games and gets 1 bye week, for a total of 18 weeks.A team plays each team in their divisions twice (totaling 6 games),Then play every team in a different division from the same conference on a rotating basis (totaling 4 games),Plus play every team from a division in the other conference on a rotating basis (totaling 4 games),Then you add in two games from the same conference that had the same divisional ranking (1st place, 2nd place, etc.),Finally, one additional game from the other conference that had the same divisional ranking (1st place, 2nd place, etc.),
This way, each team plays every other team in the league at least once every four years.
