The Pittsburgh Steelers have elevated CB D’Shawn Jamison and OL Jack Driscoll from the team’s practice squad to the Active/Inactive roster for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, the team announced on X.

Jamison boosts cornerback depth with the Steelers dealing with injury and illness at the position. Brandin Echols and James Pierre have already been ruled out with respective groin and calf injuries. Jamison figures to help on special teams and potentially play in the slot.

A former undrafted free agent out of Texas, Jamison has appeared in one game with Pittsburgh this season. He logged four special teams snaps in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals but did not see any defensive reps. He’s likely to have a larger role this time around.

Jamison appeared in 15 games for the Carolina Panthers in 2023, making one start. He played over 100 defensive snaps and finished the year with 10 tackles and one pass deflection. Pittsburgh signed him to the practice squad early in 2024 and have carried him on the practice squad and offseason rosters since.

Entering this summer as a fourth-string nickel cornerback, Jamison too advantage of injuries in front of him and flashed during training camp and the preseason. Our evaluation called him an honorable mention “camp darling” and praised his overall performance.

“A lack of size didn’t prevent him from being physical and attacking the run. Aggressive and downhill to fit the run, he battled veteran WR Robert Woods hard in stalk blocking drills and was competitive with WR Max Hurleman in one-on-ones.

Jamison hurt his cause with a roughing the kicker penalty against Tampa Bay, but he saved face by forcing a fumble later in the game, which Pittsburgh recovered. He made the practice squad and did well to stick around. This is an example of knocking down a door once it is opened.”

Jamison will wear No. 38 for the Steelers. Other healthy cornerbacks on the roster are Joey Porter Jr., Asante Samuel Jr., and the newly-signed Tre Flowers. Jalen Ramsey is also available if needed to move to corner from safety.

Driscoll was elevated last week against the Detroit Lions but did not play. He will provide additional line depth with Isaac Seumalo out and ensure they have eight active linemen on game day to take advantage of the 48th game day roster spot.
