The Seattle Seahawks are once again elevating running back Cam Akers and offensive tackle Amari Kight from their practice squad ahead of Sunday’s Week 17 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Where Seahawks QB Sam Darnold deserves more credit
Both Akers and Kight were also elevated for last week’s 38-37 overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Akers, 26, made his Seahawks debut and logged four special-teams snaps against the Rams, but he didn’t see the field on offense as Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet took all the snaps at running back. Akers has appeared in four total games this year in his stints with the Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings. He had five carries for 19 yards in his three appearances with Minnesota.
Kight, 25, provides the Seahawks with some depth on the offensive line after starting left tackle Charles Cross was ruled out for the game against Carolina on Friday with a hamstring injury he suffered in a Week 15 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Kight played both time he was previously elevated, logging two offensive snaps and six special-teams snaps during a Week 4 win over the Arizona Cardinals and two special-teams snaps last week against the Rams.
The Seahawks face the Panthers in a road matchup at 10 a.m. Sunday. Radio coverage begins on Seattle Sports 710 AM and KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM at 7 a.m. with the pregame show.
