The San Francisco 49ers are playing the final two weeks of the 2025 NFL season with a chance to win the NFC West and even the NFC’s number 1 seed.

Their quest begins in Week 17 at home against the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately, the 49ers offense looks to be without George Kittle for this pivotal matchup. But it’s not all bad news for the 49ers.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, right after the negative Kittle report, there was a positive update on the injury status of Ricky Pearsall. The second-year WR is likely to suit up for the 49ers on Sunday night, as the offense won’t be completely depleted.

49ers get good news on Ricky Pearsall

“49ers WR Ricky Pearsall, listed as questionable for Sunday night due to knee and ankle injuries,” Schefter reports, “is likely to play, per source.”

This is a huge piece of news for the 49ers’ offense. With Kittle “highly unlikely” to play on Sunday night, the offense getting Pearsall back would be a nice boost.

He’s missed a huge amount of time this season, including last week. But now, the 49ers wide receiver is set to play this weekend, as his injuries aren’t expected to hold him out.

This season, Pearsall has 31 receptions for 443 yards. His last performance was a 96-yard outing on six receptions against the Tennessee Titans.

While he’s still seeking his first touchdown grab, Pearsall has more than proven his worth so far this season. He’s stepped up when he’s on the field, and with a huge matchup against the Bears on tap, he’ll be asked to do just that this week.
