“Week in and week out, he’s produced,” Ryan said. “That’s his fifth win on the season as a rookie quarterback, which is the most of any rookie this season. He’s a good player.”
CBS then showed a graphic of Shough’s Sunday stats: He completed 22 of 27 pass attempts for 333 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
“Every week, I feel like I’m saying this,” Ryan said, “12.3 yards per [passing] attempt. They are getting chunks when they throw the football … that’s four [wins] in a row.”
Ryan then mentioned that rookie head coach Kellen Moore should be considered for the NFL Coach of the Year award.
“Kellen Moore has done an excellent job,” Ryan said. “He’s done an excellent job. Taking over a situation that’s been tough on the defensive side of the ball. They’ve had some moving parts with Spencer Rattler starting the year at the position, but Tyler Shough has come in and provided a spark for them. I think they’ve found their guy moving forward.”
Ryan won the NFL MVP award in 2016 after throwing for 4,944 yards and 38 touchdowns with only seven interceptions. He played in the NFL from 2008-22 for the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts, and is best known for his 14 seasons with the Falcons.
