Packers coach Matt LaFleur on if he’ll rest starters for Vikings game

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur reflects on the loss to the Ravens and shares thoughts on if the team will rest starters for Vikings game.

GREEN BAY – In their final tuneup before the playoffs, the Green Bay Packers will play the Minnesota Vikings in a noon kickoff Sunday, Jan. 4.

The game will be televised by CBS.

It isn’t surprising the NFL kept the Packers and Vikings on a regional platform. The Packers are locked into the NFC’s seventh and final playoff seed regardless if they win or lose in Minnesota, while the Vikings are eliminated with an 8-8 record.

The Packers are more affected by games outside Minnesota. The Chicago Bears will host the Detroit Lions at 3:25 p.m. Jan. 4. The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Washington Commanders in the same late afternoon window. If the Bears beat the Lions, the Packers will return to Chicago for an NFC wild-card game. They’ll return to Philadelphia for a rematch of last season’s NFC wild-card loss if the Bears lose and the Eagles beat the Commanders.

So whatever happens in Minnesota, the Packers will get to watch their next opponent close its regular season on their flight back to Green Bay.
