The regular NFL season is coming to an end, and unfortunately for Minnesota Vikings fans, so is the team’s. The Vikings will not be advancing to the postseason this year. Still, there is something meaningful to cheer for during the final game of the season.

A Familiar Rivalry Closes the Season

The Vikings welcome the Green Bay Packers to U.S. Bank Stadium for the final game of the regular season. The matchup was originally scheduled for Saturday night but has since been moved to Sunday at noon, giving fans one last chance to pack the stadium before winter fully sets in across Minnesota.

While neither team has much at stake from a competitive standpoint, the rivalry itself still matters. The Packers have already secured their playoff spot, and the Vikings are playing for draft positioning. Even in a down year, border battles between Minnesota and Wisconsin tend to bring extra energy, especially inside U.S. Bank Stadium.

Sunday’s game carries added significance beyond the final score. Land O’Lakes Dairy Foods and the Minnesota Vikings have teamed up this holiday season to help stock the shelves at Second Harvest Heartland, one of the largest hunger relief organizations serving Minnesota.

For every point the Vikings score against the Packers, Land O’Lakes will donate one ton of food to Second Harvest Heartland. The total donation will be based on the Vikings’ final score from the January 4 matchup, with donations capped at 20 tons.

Helping Minnesotans Facing Hunger

The timing of the partnership is critical. Food shelves across Minnesota typically see increased demand during the winter months, especially after the holidays when household budgets are stretched thin. Even a modest scoring output on Sunday could translate into thousands of meals for families across the state.

Sarah Moberg, CEO of Second Harvest Heartland, said the collaboration highlights the power of community partnerships. “At a time when many of our neighbors are turning to the hunger relief network for support, having partners like Land O’Lakes and the Minnesota Vikings come together in such a fun and meaningful way helps us shed more light on hunger and get more food to Minnesotans who need it.”

While the season may be ending without a playoff berth, Sunday’s game offers Vikings fans a reason to root for every touchdown and extra point, knowing that each score makes a real difference off the field.
