Live updates from Monday’s prime-time matchup in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Falcons have been eliminated from playoff contention, but they still have a chance to match last year’s win total by going 2-0 in their final two games of the season. In Week 17, the Falcons will host the Los Angeles Rams in prime time on ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast.

While the Rams have already clinched a postseason berth, they are one of several NFC teams jockeying for playoff seeding. After losing to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16, Los Angeles can’t afford another loss.

Plus, the Rams likely need to win in order for Matthew Stafford to secure the league MVP award. Stafford is having a career season, but the MVP race is heating up as Drake Maye continues to make things interesting.

As for the Falcons, they are simply playing for pride. Even though Atlanta is a clear underdog, the team has played well in prime time this season. Atlanta defeated the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in nationally televised games, and will look to do the same against the Rams.
