It appears the Washington Commanders dodged a bullet regarding center Tyler Biadasz. The sixth-year center suffered a leg injury in the fourth quarter of Washington’s Week 16 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles and was seen in a walking boot after the game, with his knee wrapped.
Fortunately, head coach Dan Quinn revealed some good news regarding Biadasz. While he will not play in Sunday’s regular-season finale at Philadelphia, the prognosis appears good for Biadasz heading into the offseason.
“Tyler had injured both his ankle and his knee, so it’ll be a tough stretch for him to make it back for this game this weekend,” Quinn said. “No surgery at this time, but, you know, something that will knock him out likely for this week, but no surgeries. That’s good, of where we’re at, but certainly not at a level where he’s got the mobility and movement just yet.”
That’s terrific news for Washington. While there is never a good time for an injury, a severe injury this late in the season could’ve knocked Biadasz out for part of next season, too. It’s similar to what happened with right guard Sam Cosmi, who tore his ACL in January’s NFC Divisional Round playoff win over the Detroit Lions. Cosmi didn’t return until Week 7.
Biadasz has been a stabilizing force for the Commanders‘ offensive line since signing in March 2024. After spending his first four seasons in Dallas, Biadasz followed Quinn to Washington. He started 15 regular-season games and all three playoff games last season. This season, Biadasz started the first 15 games until missing last week’s game against the Cowboys.
Some positive news for the Commanders ahead of what’s expected to be a pivotal offseason.
