The PGA Tour trolled the Panthers on Instagram and X, but has since deleted the post.
Probably did not sit well with David Tepper, considering he’s a member at Quail Hollow and lives on the course. pic.twitter.com/fGoUMOrkwx

The Carolina Panthers caught a stray from an unexpected source this weekend.

On Sunday, Scottie Scheffler—the world’s No. 1-ranked golfer—captured his first PGA championship and third career major title at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. Shortly after Scheffler’s win, as pointed out by Joe Person of The Athletic, the PGA Tour’s social media squad posted the following to their Twitter/X and Instagram accounts . . .

Geez. That seemed rather unnecessary, didn’t it?

Well, although the post was taken down, it’s still painfully true.

The Panthers have gone a combined 14-37 since the 2022 campaign. That stretch has contributed to what is now the longest playoff drought in franchise history, as Carolina has missed out on postseason contention for seven straight years.

Their last playoff trip came in 2017, the season before the organization was officially purchased by current owner David Tepper. Since Tepper took over in 2018, the Panthers have amassed a record of 36-80.
