The Seattle Seahawks will face off against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday in a battle for the division title and the NFC’s No. 1 seed in the playoffs, but the stakes are even higher for local businesses looking to entertain fans near the stadium.

On “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio, hosts Gee Scott and Ursula Reutin detailed what the potentially No. 1-seeded Seahawks would mean for local business owners situated near Lumen Field.

“The Seattle Seahawks are one win away from locking up the number one seed, and if that happens, that means home games throughout the playoffs, and that also means music to the ears of many local businesses,” Ursula said.

Local business owners hopeful to host Seahawks playoff home game

Some business owners, including Shane Quinn, who runs Sluggers along with his wife, said the neighborhood as a whole benefits when the teams play at home.

“The number one seed at that point having home field – it can’t get better,” Quinn told KOMO News, who runs Sluggers with his wife. “This whole neighborhood benefits hugely from them having home games. It’s nerve-wracking to say the least, because we go from spending our savings, to keeping our savings, and making money.”

Other Pioneer Square businesses noted the correlation between Seattle’s sports success and their profitability, such as DeLeo Bros Pizza, which benefited from the Mariners’ recent playoff run.

“No, these games are what’s saving us, I think, in all of this, and the fans support, and everybody coming down here and actually being there for live sports again and all of that is, it’s a big help for all of us,” Kaydee DeLeo told KOMO News. “That energy is incredible, like it’s nice to be down here.”

Gee outlined the Seahawks’ tough test ahead against their division rival, the San Francisco 49ers, en route to locking down a No. 1 seed in the playoffs, and his prediction for Saturday’s prime time matchup.

“I feel good the Seahawks are gonna win, because the Seahawks can beat you a number of different ways, the San Francisco 49ers, while their offense is playing pretty good, their defense is like a matador, “Olé,” Gee said. “They allowed everything to get past them. You see, they’ve given up a lot of points. That defense is struggling.”
