A decade after their dramatic 2014 Sun Bowl clash, Arizona State and Duke meet again in El Paso, Texas, on New Year’s Eve. The Sun Devils (8-4) will be without 19 players who would normally populate the two-deep, including quarterback Sam Leavitt, wide receiver Jordyn Tyson and running back Raleek Brown. Duke (8-5) will also be missing key contributors, including second-team All-ACC performers Brian Parker and Chandler Rivers, though star quarterback Darian Mensah is expected to play.
With so many impact players sidelined, both teams will lean on depth to close out the season with a ninth win. Arizona State’s backups will be tested, while Duke will look to Mensah to keep the offense moving and continue momentum into 2026. Ten years after that 36-31 thriller, the Sun Bowl is set for another unpredictable afternoon in El Paso.
