The final week of the regular season has arrived. The Jaguars are trying to hold onto the AFC South lead, while the Bucs want the NFC South crown.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are undefeated in home games that conclude their regular season.A win against the Tennessee Titans would secure the AFC South title for the Jaguars. This season marks the team’s eighth postseason appearance in its history.

The Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t had much success over the 31-year history of their franchise.

This season, under first-year coach Liam Coen, will be only the Jags’ eighth appearance in the postseason. Their 12-4 record entering Sunday’s home game against the Tennessee Titans is only the seventh time they have won 10 or more games.

However, the Jaguars are perfect in one regard: they have a knack for closing out seasons at home with a victory. And if they were out of the playoff picture at that point, there were at least some smiles in the parking lot as fans headed home.

The Jaguars are 9-0 in home games on the final week of the regular season. They will bring the curtain down on 2025 on Jan. 4 when they host the Tennessee Titans (3-13) at EverBank Stadium (1 p.m., FOX).

The game is significant because the Jaguars will clinch the AFC South title with a victory and get a home playoff game in the first round.

Jaguars have clinched two playoff spots in home finales

The last time the Jaguars finished the regular season at home also brought playoff implications. They beat the Titans 20-16 in 2022 to clinch the division title in a winner-take-all game.

The other historic regular-season home finale came in 1996 when the Jaguars beat Atlanta 19-17 to clinch a playoff spot. It capped a five-game winning streak in which every victory was by seven or fewer points and the Jags went on to win two playoff games over Buffalo and Denver and reach the AFC title game.

The Jaguars had a playoff spot clinched in 1999 but had to beat Cincinnati 24-7 in the final game at home to ensure the AFC Central title by one game over Tennessee.

The only home game to end a regular season that was not against a division opponent was against the Falcons in 1996. The Jaguars were in the AFC Central from 1995 to 2001.

The Jaguars are 16-14 overall in their final home games of a season, with 21 of them coming on the road (7-14). They have won their last four, beating the Colts in 2021, the Titans in 2022, the Panthers in 2023, and the Titans again last year.
