Officially, the Packers have promoted four practice squad players to the 53-man roster to play in the team’s final regular-season game, which has no impact on their playoff seeding. Green Bay also waiver-claimed Jonathan Ford from the Chicago Bears earlier this week.
No longer on the 53-man roster
The Packers announced today that both cornerback Nate Hobbs and safety Zayne Anderson will be going on the injured reserve, where they’ll need to spend a minimum of four weeks. At best, they’ll come back for Green Bay in the Super Bowl, if they make it there.
To backfill for the four practice squadders moving up to the 53-man roster, Green Bay signed four players this week. Tyron Herring previously spent time with the Packers, initially joining the team post-draft as an undrafted free agent. The other additions are brand new. Both Desmond Ridder and Damien Martinez were considered top-100 prospects in their respective drafts coming out.
