Rice will become the 16th person inducted into the franchise’s Ring of Honor, which already includes Rice’s Bucs teammates Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Mike Alstott, John Lynch and Ronde Barber.
Rice’s two head coaches during his time with the Bucs, Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden, are also members of the Ring of Honor.
Rice played six years with the Buccaneers, from 2001-06, and posted double-digit sack totals in five of those seasons.
“Simeon Rice established himself as one of the most dominant pass rushers in NFL history and is immensely deserving of his place as the 16th member in the Buccaneers Ring of Honor,” said Buccaneers owner/co-chairman Bryan Glazer. “He left an indelible mark on our franchise, and we look forward to honoring and celebrating his great career this upcoming season.”
Rice finished his career with 122 sacks. He joined the Bucs after five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He also played briefly with the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts.
His induction will take place during a halftime ceremony in Tampa Bay’s home game against the Cardinals.
