Netflix underscored its record December streaming viewership with another outsized performing Christmas Day NFL games.

The streamer’s exclusive offering of the Dallas Cowboys 30-23 win over the Washington Commanders, and Minnesota Vikings’ 23-10 upset win over the Detroit Lions generated average views of 19.9 million and 27.5 million, respectively, according to Nielsen data.

The 27.5 million set an all-time U.S. streaming record for a live sports event. Viewership for the Vikings game peaked at 30 million.

Netflix’s two NFL Christmas Day games in 2024 averaged 24.1 million and 24.3 million U.S. viewers, respectively.

Netflix said NFL viewership came from more than 200 countries, with the Cowboys-Commanders eyeing 22.4 million global AMA (average minute audience) and the Lions-Vikings generating 30.5 million global AMA.

The viewership is based on National Nielsen Big Data + Panel in the U.S., which includes out-of-home viewing, CBS local market viewing, the NFL+ subscription streaming service, mobile and web viewing across Netflix.

International data is based on Netflix Live + 1 first-party data for TV, mobile, and web, along with NFL-reported viewing for the NFL’s international distributors and NFL Game Pass outside the U.S.

The games are part of Netflix’s three-year NFL deal, which expires in 2026.
