NBC Sports Philadelphia reports that the Eagles confirmed Wednesday they’ll “rest several key starters” in Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Commanders. It’s not yet clear, though, exactly who that plan affects and how.
What They’re Saying
Dave Zangaro of NBCÂ Sports Philly:Â “While several big names will not play, the Eagles won’t be able to rest everyone. And they will still be trying to win the game to improve their seeding heading into the playoffs. Some starters will rest, some will be limited, and some will dress but not play.”
Fantasy Football Impact
What’s that mean for your Week 18 lineup? If you have an Eagles regular and are wondering whether to play him, the answer’s almost certainly “no.”
Backup QBÂ Tanner McKee has been expected to start all week, with multiple reporters saying they expected Philly to do just this.
RBÂ Saquon Barkley seems an obvious sit as well, along with WRÂ A.J. Brown, WRÂ DeVonta Smith, and TEÂ Dallas Goedert.
Even if Philadelphia doesn’t have room to officially deactivate all those guys, the roster certainly sports enough depth at each of those positions to cover the starters missing most or all of the game.
On the IDP side, we’ll see. But Edge Jaelan Phillips, DTÂ Jalen Carter, and LBÂ Nakobe Dean all sat out Thursday’s practices. They’re good bets to miss Sunday’s action.
Jihaad Campbell’s the best bet among LBs to see full playing time. And you should probably avoid the DBs altogether.
Other Winners & Losers
On offense, Tank Bigsby seems most likely to get boosted into usable range. He’s no lock, of course, with Will Shipley likely factoring in as well. But the matchup is juicy.
McKee presents top-15 upside and sits inside the top 20 of our Week 18 rankings.
