Titans face Jaguars in season finale amid roster uncertainty

  • January 2, 2026

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Tennessee Titans will close their 2025 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with significant roster changes expected in the offseason.

The Titans face a Jacksonville team that has won seven straight games and is hunting for the AFC South title in the regular season finale.

Despite talk about upcoming changes, the Titans say the speculation hasn’t affected their preparation for the final game. The team has been blocking out noise all season, and Game 17 will be no different.

“It’s sort of been our coping mechanism a little bit with how low some of the lows have been in a way, in terms of alright man, that was bad but let’s focus on the next task, and I think that’s what rewarded us with some success lately,” said Peter Skoronski. “In terms of the bad times forcing us to band together.”

Jeffery Simmons said the team’s focus remains on the field despite uncertainty about the roster.

“A lot of stuff we can’t control who’s not going to be in this locker room after this season, kind of what our message has been, especially in the defensive meeting room, to come out there ready to fight, and you know our job is to go out there and win a football game,” Simmons said.

One major focus this offseason will be surrounding tight end Chig Okonkwo, who will become an unrestricted free agent.

Okonkwo leads the team in receiving yards and is second in touchdowns. If it were up to him, he would return to Nashville in 2026.

“Yeah, I definitely would want to be a part of the core people that watched this place grow from where we are at now into a winning organization,” Okonkwo said. “Definitely want to be a part of that, I believe in it, I believe in the division, things going on. I believe in Cam, so I think it would be a great place for me to be in the future.”

The Titans will look for their first divisional win of the season. Kickoff in Jacksonville is at 12 p.m. Central.
