Jaguars DC Anthony Campanile lauds DB room for dealing with injuries

The Jacksonville Jaguars secondary has been plagued with injuries this season. But it’s been plug-and-play, with no drop in performance.

The Jacksonville Jaguars enter the final week of the NFL regular season with a shot at the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs. But they also could fall all the way to the seventh and final seed if they don’t take care of business against the Tennessee Titans.

Liam Coen looks to be the second straight new coach to lead the Jags to an AFC South title, which Jacksonville (12-4) can clinch with a win or a Houston Texans loss. The Jags currently hold the No. 3 seed in the AFC; they can climb even higher with losses by the Denver Broncos and/or the New England Patriots.

Trevor Lawrence and company enter today’s game amid a seven-game winning streak, which includes a 25-3 win against the Titans (3-13) on Nov. 30. No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward threw for just 141 yards on 38 attempts and was sacked three times.

Jaguars vs Titans predictions, picks for NFL Week 18Demetrius Harvey, Florida Times-Union

Jaguars 30, Titans 14: “There’s no question that Titans quarterback Cam Ward has improved over the course of the season, especially in the last few weeks. Still, the Titans are far behind the Jaguars in their build, and barring a few turnovers by Jacksonville, there should be no issue as they look to earn their 13th win.”

Garry Smits, Florida Times-Union

Jaguars 24, Titans 10: “Jaguars fans I know, including some in my family, keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. With every victory has come about 20 minutes of enjoying it, then wondering if it can last. They can’t even take full advantage of the 24-hour rule that Liam Coen gives his players.”

Bill Bender, Sporting News

Jaguars 31, Titans 17: “The Jaguars are looking to clinch the AFC South under first-year coach Liam Coen. Trevor Lawrence has enjoyed a resurgence, and the defense has allowed 20 points or less and has forced two or more turnovers in five straight games. It’s a huge line, but the Jaguars are 6-1 ATS as a favorite this season.”

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports

Jaguars 31, Titans 17: “If the Jaguars win this one, they are the AFC South champions. The Titans would love to ruin that party. But the Jaguars are one of the hottest teams in the league, and the Titans’ pass defense is a major issue. Look for a big game from Trevor Lawrence.”
