Sunday’s season finale in Atlanta will decide the NFC South.
The Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints won’t be heading to the playoffs this year, but their Week 18 game has major ramifications in the NFC South title race. Since the Carolina Panthers lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday, the Falcons and the Saints will decide the division on Sunday.
The Panthers can clinch the NFC South championship with a Falcons win, while the Buccaneers need a Saints victory to secure their fifth consecutive division title. As far as meaningless regular-season finales go, Sunday’s game in Atlanta is about as important as they come.
New Orleans enters Week 18 on a four-game winning streak. After going 2-10 to start the season, the Saints sit at 6-10 with a chance to finish third in the division with a win over the Falcons. Meanwhile, Atlanta has won three straight games and can finish 8-9 with another on Sunday.
