The Bills play what is likely to be their final game in Highmark Stadium on Sunday in the regular-season finale against the Jets.
The stadium, which opened in 1973, has been a sanctuary for generations of Bills fans.
Buffalo begins the day still unsure who it will face next week in the wild card round of the playoffs. It has a shot at climbing as high as the No. 5 seed in the AFC, though it needs help from Indianapolis and Denver.
In that scenario, the possibility of a playoff game is there.
Another likely scenario is ending up as the sixth seed. That’s where Buffalo will land if it beats the Jets and gets a loss from either the Texans or Chargers, which plans to rest starting quarterback Justin Herbert against the Broncos.
Of course, Buffalo will rest its fair of starters as it prepares for a Super Bowl run. Quarterback Josh Allen is dealing with a foot injury where an extra of week of rest will do more than change much about its playoff positioning.
If the Bills can’t beat the Jets, they’ll remain the No. 7 seed in the AFC and get a third matchup with the New England Patriots.

The Jets are also resting several starters, including running back Breece Hall before he’s expected to hit free agency. New York signed former Syracuse and Bills defensive end Kingsley Jonathan to its active roster for the game.
