Despite the backlash from her excruciating interruption on Bill Belichick‘s CBS interview, Jordon Hudson is keen to let people know that the controversial couple are stronger than ever.

According to a shock new report in the New York Times, the 24-year-old Hudson has told ‘at least one person’ that she is engaged to be married to Belichick, 73.

The couple haven’t made an announcement about the apparent news, despite Belichick having plenty of opportunities to do so recently. But speculation has been rife for months – ever since Daily Mail exclusively photographed Hudson at a New Orleans dinner during Super Bowl week with a rock on her left ring finger.

Belichick appeared on Good Morning America on Friday – notably without Hudson and instead with a new PR guru – and was quizzed by former NFL player Michael Strahan about the influence his young girlfriend has on his life.

‘Well, we have good personal relationship. And, you know, I’m not talking about personal relationships, Michael, you know that,’ Belichick said.

Despite Strahan’s attempts to pry some information from Belichick over his 49-years-younger girlfriend, he only otherwise spoke about how she helps him focus on football and his role as head coach at University of North Carolina.

But Hudson’s role in Belichick’s life has been falling under intensifying scrutiny in the three weeks since she stopped the legendary NFL coach answering a question on a CBS interview about how they met.

One of the most striking things about the awkward moment was that it was a fact that is believed to be commonly known. They were both on a flight from Massachussetts to Florida in February 2021, with Belichick signing a book she had on philosophy.

Since that CBS interview, former NFL players who were coached by Belichick have questioned his sanity and there have even been claims his family are concerned about Hudson’s influence.

Belichick’s close friend, the NBA great Charles Barkley, said he was going to reach out to Belichick with his concerns about Hudson’s influence. A story in the New York Post, meanwhile, quoted a source close to Belichick describing Hudson as a ‘runaway train’.

Indeed, Belichick’s daughter-in-law Jennifer – married to his son Stephen, who is a part of Belichick’s North Carolina coaching team – even shaded Hudson on Instagram after the CBS interview was aired.

On an Instagram post which shows former Patriots star Julian Edelman sticking up for Hudson, claiming she was merely acting how any PR person would, Jennifer wrote: ‘Publicists act in a professional manner and don’t “storm” off set delaying an interview.’

Her comment seemingly confirmed reports that at a different stage of the CBS interview, Hudson stormed out of the room and caused a 30-minute delay to proceedings.

The couple were last seen together in exclusive Daily Mail pictures holding hands while leaving the Maine beauty pageant on May 18, where Hudson finished third.

She gave a speech where she indirectly adressed the backlash against her, telling the audience: ‘I’m feeling an immense amount of pride right now.

‘I’m hoping that anybody who’s watching this finds the strength to push through whatever it is that they’re going through and embodies that hate never wins.’

But eight-time Super Bowl winner Belichick, speaking on GMA, underlined his belief that she is a good influence on his life and career.

‘She’s been terrific, you know,’ Belichick said in an appearance to promote his new book. ‘Through the whole process, and she’s been very helpful to me.

‘She does the business things that don’t relate to North Carolina that come up in my life, so I can concentrate on football. And that’s really what I want to do.’

Belichick calls Hudson his ‘muse’ in his book about his life coaching in the NFL.

‘You know, I acknowledged her in the book. She was very helpful on that with the with the tribute pages, and also given a perspective of the book from kind of a business side,’ Belichick added.

‘You know, sometimes I get a little football technical and, and so, you know, she did a good job of keeping me on balance there.’

Belichick’s step into the world of college football came after he failed to land the Atlanta Falcons coaching role following the end of his all-conquering 24-season run as Patriots coach.

The appointment by UNC was first considered a coup but Hudson’s presence apparently curtailed a lucrative deal with the iconic Hard Knocks television series that wanted to film Belichick’s work behind-the-scenes.

Hudson’s alleged demands to be credited as an executive producer, as well as being sent advanced copies of the show, led makers to scrap plans to work with UNC.

There had been suggestions that UNC were growing concerned about Hudson’s presence and in turn, were questioning whether they had made the right decision in hiring Belichick, despite his unquestionable footballing acumen.

But the school released a statement in early May downplaying those rumors, saying: ‘While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities.

‘Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick’s personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University.’
