DETROIT, Mich. (WILX) – The Detroit Lions have fired offensive coordinator John Morton after one season.
The Lions announced the move on social media Tuesday, about two months after head coach Dan Campbell took over play calling duties after just eight games as Detroit got out to a 5-3 start.
Things never got much better in the second half of the season, as the Lions finished 9-8, in last place in the NFC North — a far slide from the last two seasons that saw them win back-to-back division titles.

The Lions are now searching for a new offensive coordinator for the second time in as many years. Morton took over for Ben Johnson, who left the role to become head coach of the Chicago Bears after Detroit’s season ended with a home playoff loss to the Washington Commanders.
Morton had come over from the Denver Broncos, where he spent two years as passing game coordinator.
