Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has played in big football games before. He won back-to-back state and national titles as a high schooler at Mater Dei in Santa, Ana Calif. and started for the University of Alabama in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship.

But he has yet to experience the NFL playoffs.

Well, that’ll change on Saturday, when his Panthers welcome in the Los Angeles Rams for a wild-card matchup in Charlotte. Following Tuesday’s practice, the third-year passer spoke about the chance of finally getting a crack at the postseason.

“Great opportunity. Super excited,” Young told reporters. “And now, it’s about making something out of it. Today was a good start, but we have to make sure that we’re dialed in to the process.”

Since selecting Young with the first overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Panthers have gone a combined 15-36. Eight of those 15 wins came this season—and, despite the noise, were good enough to clinch the franchise their first playoff appearance since 2017 and their first NFC South title since 2015.

Young, when asked about taking in the division crown, also spoke on the opportunity to be in front of the home crowd for his playoff debut.

“I’m sure everyone kinda did it individually. Just the way it shook out, we didn’t get that locker room type of atmosphere,” he said of celebrating the berth after the Atlanta Falcons’ win. “But again, we’re super grateful for that, we’re super grateful for the support. We’re excited for ‘The Bank’ on Saturday.

“The city’s been behind us forever, for me, for as long as I’ve been here. They’ve always given a ton of support. We’re super excited. It means a lot to play one at ‘The Bank.’ And for us, again, it’s just time to focus and time to work.”

The Panthers’ last home playoff game came during the 2015 campaign, when they defeated the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC championship to advance to Super Bowl 50.
