The New England Patriots are playoff bound once again.

For many of us on the SouthCoast, it’s a phrase we weren’t sure we’d hear for a bit, but this team has it all – including a star-studded fan base.

The latest celebrity to declare his love of the Pats is none other than comedian Matt Rife.

“Great people. Great family. Great team. Great players and I’m excited to be a part of it,” Rife wrote in a social media post, sharing his admiration for New England’s football finest.

“I have to start first and foremost by saying the Patriots won me over,” Rife said. “I think a lot of that has to do with proximity as well as a new New Englander, I wanted to engulf myself in the culture.”

Rife, a resident of Rhode Island for the past few years, has certainly immersed himself in the area.

From New Year’s celebrations in Providence to popping up at local comedy clubs, the Ohio native has certainly been enjoying his residency in New England.

He said the Pats are having “an amazing year,” and he’s right.

The AFC East Champions secured the second seed in the playoffs and have a QB in Drake Maye that’s surpassing Tom Brady’s records.

“I think they might do it this year,” Rife said, adding that he’s expecting to get flack for jumping on the bandwagon. “It feels like a new team and I want to be part of that restart.”
