The Los Angeles Rams shuffled their roster ahead of Saturday’s playoff game, welcoming back a key piece of the defense. On Tuesday, they activated Quentin Lake from injured reserve.

To make room for him on the 53-man roster, they placed Shaun Dolac on injured reserve. Additionally, they cut safety Nate Valcarcel from the practice squad and signed linebacker Ben Niemann to take his place.

Niemann will add depth at linebacker and on special teams with Dolac out, assuming he gets elevated from the practice squad.

Lake has been out since injuring his elbow in Week 11, missing the last seven games while on injured reserve. Sean McVay said Lake is expected to play against the Panthers this week, so this was merely an expected move by the team. He returned to practice last week, as did Tyler Higbee.

Dolac injured his knee in Sunday’s win over the Cardinals and has been placed on IR, costing the Rams a key special teams player and ending his rookie year.
